Minister Paul Scully’s Aldgate Adventure

Published:

Last week, we welcomed Minister Paul Scully MP, Minister for London and Small Business, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to visit a range of Aldgate leisure businesses. It was great to hear from businesses about their experiences in recent weeks and a real showcase of resilience.

The minister began his visit dining at the Petticoat Lane Al Fresco area, speaking with David Dalmau, owner of Barcelona Tapas about the restaurant’s journey throughout the pandemic, as well as meeting the other neighbouring restaurant owners. Moving over to Dabbers Social Bingo, to see the exciting face of bingo and discuss their plans for reopening. Finishing off at the cultural pinnacle of Aldgate, the Whitechapel Gallery, for discussions with Iwona Blazwick OBE, Whitechapel Gallery Director, and her team and a tour the main gallery spaces, including their major summer exhibition Eileen Agar: Angel of Anarchy, on view at Gallery from 19th May – 29th August 2021.
