Join in and volunteer planning winter in Aldgate

Published:

Aldgate Lantern Parade and Winter Fete are back for the 2nd year running. Building on the success of the previous editions, the project represents a collaboration between residents, groups, schools and organisations from across the area. Open to anyone and everyone, Aldgate in Winter is a vibrant celebration of the cultural wealth of the surrounding community.
The Lantern Parade will involve children, families, groups and individuals from across Aldgate and beyond. It will launch from Sir John Cass’s Foundation Primary school, which borders Aldgate Square, and move through the streets north of Aldgate High Street to the beat of the Barbican’s Drum Works. The Winter Fair will simultaneously spread between Aldgate Square and St Botolph without Aldgate. The fair is a celebration of all the wider community has to offer; performance, art, food, drink and intergenerational activities. Together, the events, which are increasingly community-led, collaboratively imagined and co-produced, draw groups from across the area into one fantastic festive space.
